Crumb-Top Apple Pie

INGREDIENTS
- 1 refrigerated pie crust
- 5 tart (Granny Smith) apples, peeled and thinly sliced
- 1 cup sugar, divided
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¾ cup all-purpose flour
- 6 tablespoons butter
- Vanilla ice cream, optional
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
- Place refrigerated pie crust in pie plate; set aside.
- In small bowl, combine ½ cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Arrange apple slices in crust and sprinkle cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over apples.
- In medium bowl, mix together remaining ½ cup sugar and flour. Cut in butter with pastry cutter until flour mixture is crumbly. Sprinkle evenly over apples.
- Bake for 10 minutes at 450 degrees. Reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake an additional 40 minutes. Remove from oven and cool to room temperature. May be served with vanilla ice cream, if desired.
